SUNDAY

4:45pm Focus for Agility II (Campton Hills)
For dogs over 1 yr. who need focus for team work; group games and focus exercises,
improve confidence for handling & on obstacles, especially start line, contacts and weaves.
START: May 12 & 19, June 16 & 30, July 14 & 21
COST: $125/six weeks

6pm Focus for Agility I (Campton Hills)
For dogs of any age who need focus for team work; group games and focus exercises,
introduce obstacles (or refresh performance), basic handling skills, build connection.
START: May 12 & 19, June 16 & 30, July 14 & 21

MONDAY
10am Therapy Dog (South Elgin)
Does your dog enjoy visiting people and making them smile? Therapy Dogs need special training to ensure they are polite and under control during their visits to nursing homes, schools, hospitals or wherever they might be needed. Find the best Therapy Dog program for you with instructor Patricia Stokely’s guidance, polish your dogs’ greeting and obedience skills for Therapy Dog certification, and practice real life scenarios your dog might encounter, such as someone using a walker, wheelchair or crutches, clumsy petting, loud noises, and more.

Puppies play and learn in Kindergarten!

TUESDAY
6pm Puppy Kindergarten (South Elgin)
For puppies 4 months and under; introduce basic obedience skills (sit, down, come, stay), build confidence and coordination using baby agility obstacles and FitPaws balance discs, and play with other puppies. Discuss common challenges, such as housebreaking, destructive chewing and coming when called.
START: April 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14 & 21
COST: $125/six weeks

7:15pm Beginner Obedience (South Elgin)
Teach or refresh basic obedience skills (sit, down, come, stay), heel position, plus loose leash walking, polite greetings of people and other dogs, and go to place.
START: April 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14 & 21

Dogs of all ages zoom through the tunnel and chute, climb a baby Aframe, walk the plank, jump over bars and through tires! Prerequisite for all agility classes.
START: April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22

7:15pm Beginner/Intermediate Agility (South Elgin)
In addition to Foundation Agility obstacles, dogs are introduced to baby dogwalk, low teeter totter, and weave poles, plus working short sequences off leash.

Nietzsche the German Shepherd loves to sniff in Nose Work class!

THURSDAY
Noon Nose Work I (South Elgin)
Recreational version of police or military drug/bomb detection dogs. Dogs hunt for food or toy using their nose and four different scenarios: containers, interior, exterior and vehicle. Sniffing comes naturally, so no special training required.
START: April 11, 25, May 9, 23
COST: $80/four weeks

Dogs are on odor (birch, anise or clove) and doing more advanced searches in preparation for NACSW, UKC & C-WAGS trials.

FRIDAY
6:30pm Downtown Hound (new location each week: parks, Geneva Commons, coffee shops)
When you take your dog to new places, does he struggle to focus? Improve your dog’s public manners such as sit, down, polite greetings and loose leash walking in a new environment every week with plenty of people and dog distractions. Must be graduate of Beginner Obedience or Manners & Self Control (or equivalent).
START: June 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12, 26
COST: $135/six weeks

AKC now recognizes CGC as a title after your dog’s name!

SATURDAY
9am-10am Manners & Self Control (South Elgin)
For dogs who know basic obedience, but lack self control, such as jumping up on people, bolting through doors, pulling on leash and stealing food. Learn how to get your dog’s attention, work through distractions, and make good decisions.
DATES: April 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25
COST: $125/five weeks
INSTRUCTOR: Rebecca Cann

10am-11am Canine Good Citizen (South Elgin)
Advanced obedience skills are required for passing the Canine Good Citizen test (see http://www.akc.org for more info) and preparing to be a certified Therapy Dog. They include sit politely for petting, nicely greet another dog, loose leash walking, advanced stays and recalls.

    Maya Clark (black and white border) did agility with Samantha. My husband, John is considering working with her now. Where is the location for intermediate agility on Thursday nights? Is there a session start date or how does that work?

    • Hi Lisa, I’d love to have John & Maya in agility class! There’s an opening in the 7pm Thu Intermediate Agility class which begins tomorrow night (Feb. 23). Location is Agility at the Farm, 8N861 Burlington Road, Campton Hills, IL 60140. Will email you privately with more info. Thx, Julia

    I have a bernese mtn dog, she will be 5 months old on the 8th…When will you have a new start date for the puppy obedience class? We go to south town animal hospital and they recommended you.

    Hi Julia, Do you know where the registration form for the “Do More With Your Dog” dog camp at Campton HIlls (end of Oct) is posted? I got an email from DMWYD and a link to Agility at the Farm, but don’t see the event posted on their event webpage. Maybe its too early??

    Hi: When new class schedule will be posted? I have Yorkie, male, 10 months old and he needs socialize with other dogs and human. I am interested in enroll my dog in Beginner Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Beginner K9 Nose Work, Beginner Obedience and Beginner Agility. Not necessarily in this order.
    Oh, We are in South Elgin, so, I am interested in South Elgin location.

    • Hi Stella, the new class session starts in January. For your young Yorkie, I recommend Beginner Obedience, which begins Tue., Jan. 8 from 7:15pm-8:15pm at the South Elgin location.
